30 Day Ab Challenge Results and How to Modify Insanity

Remember a month ago, I was committing to do Skinny Ms’ 30 Day Ab Challenge?  Well, I finished it. I feel like I got some pretty decent results! Here’s the before pic:

For 30 days, that’s pretty good! Even though my eating wasn’t perfect, working my abs – ALL OF MY ABS – consistently for 30 days really made a difference.

So, I want to talk about a workout program that often makes me want to punch its trainer in the face, but that gives pretty awesome results. You’ve probably heard of it, or stopped to drool over Shaun T’s abs – seriously – that man is gorgeous!  It’s INSANITY.  60 days of seriously slap yo’ mama crazy ass back to back workouts.  No wait, technically it’s 63.  No weights, just intense plyometric cardio circuits with some body weight resistance intermixed.

A lot of people are put off by Insanity because, even I have to admit, it’s intimidating. Or, they order Insanity but try to do it and are petrified by the pace of the people on screen or try to do too much too soon and injure themselves.  What you’ve got to do with Insanity is go at your own pace and work up to being able to keep up with Shaun T’s crew.  Because there isn’t a modifier, I made a video of a few of Insanity’s moves to help give an idea of how to modify an Insanity workout to make it low impact, but NOT low intensity. Awesome idea to make a modifier! Even Chalene’s modifier is off screen for the majority of the workouts!

Thank you so much for these ideas! I started this morning, and after about 10 minutes of the fit test, my knees were killing me! That was pretty hard for me to take as a former ballet dancer. I seriously thought I was going to have to find another workout that is more low-impact, but I’m going to try again tomorrow using your suggestions! :)

The Fit Test is considerably harder than the actual workouts so don’t worry! I find what also helps – when you just look to see what the exercises are but then look away from the TV to actually do them, it helps because then you go at your own pace and stop trying to keep up with the people on the TV.
